Yehaaw! Party’s on, and of course I will be there. I’ll be uploading photos later on Monday. If you spot yourself on a picture, please comment! =)

Foton från Eskilstuna Å Festen 2008 kommer up nu senare på Måndag, när jag hinner gå igenom bilderna som blev bra.

30 behind the corner!

So I’ll soon turn 30, crisis alert!

I might throw some kind of smallish party in Sweden, be with family and other relatives and with anyone who bothers to show up.

Food: If it’s nice weather, we’ll be out, so it’s gonna be barbeque, lots of unhealthy greasy stuff and some healthier stuff for myself.

Drinks: Of course. My parties have never been dry.

Presents: I’ve not gotten all that many in the last 10 years, so I don’t expect much, but here’s my short list of things I feel I need to have to be complete:

  • World peace (please no nuking all the countries at war)
  • End to famine (please no releasing a zombie virus so we can eat on people)
  • Pulp Fiction DVD with commentary tracks and the poster.
  • A bottle of Naga Jolokia or Bhut Jolokia chili sauce. Hot hot hot!
  • Lots of postcards from all around the world. Please send me one!

Mokoma at Tavastia 2007

Tuska festival for 2007 is now officially over. Last band to play on the main stage was Stratovarius and although not my main preference in music style, I did enjoy their live gig very much.

After Tuska me and some friends went to Tavastia to listen to more live music, namely the band Mokoma. We didn’t bring in our cameras, because they are forbidden there. Not to worry, exclusive pictures are still coming up sometime soon. Besides, there were more than enough media coverage in the front row. I talked with media from New York, also someone else who was from Germany. Two girls had come all the way from Japan!

The concert was awesome and it was a great Tuska-finale for me and my friends. Or almost all of us… One had decided to go home early, but had fallen asleep in the train and ended up somewhere very far, so we had to go get her back home by car :D

After a few other escapades in the night by car I finally got home and into bed at 3 am. I wonder when will I have the time to get some sleep.

Woohoo!

I love metal. Okay so I love everything and everyone when they’re drunk on festivals :D
Finnish people are notorious for being shy and introvert, but not during days like these!

Haha, last two days has been quite crazy, today I’m trying a slower pace.

Photos photos.. oh yea, were taking them and publishing later tonight. Last night was spent elsewhere, as most night for the past 10 days! I’m almost never at home! I’m having too much fun and too little time to sit by the computer…

RMJ - Raumanmeren Juhannus 2007

Finally it’s over. Or maybe I could have partied for one or two more days, it was over before I even realized. I almost feel bad about even thinking of NOT going there…

When my friends asked me what I was going to do during midsummer, I said that I didn’t have any definitive plans yet (I was planning to be in either Amsterdam or at my family in Sweden), so they offered me VIP-tickets to the RMJ festival. At first I thought “Gosh, 3 days of partying in the sun, I’m really too old for that”. Seriously, how could I even think such a thought. That party was so rejuvenating and now I think it could/should have lasted somewhat longer.

Naturally, I took lots of photos, and when I was too tired to take them myself, I put the camera into the hands of a friend so that there was non-stop documentation :)

I’m not sure if I dare to watch those photos yet… at festivals, many things are better to be forgotten ;)

But pictures will be up soon, or any day now, so please come back later!

Next week there’s yet again Tuska Open Air metal festival, I’ll be there like last year. Hell yeah!

School’s out

Not for me though, I’m just a working man. But all preliminary level and high-school students are now officially on vacation. One thing I like about this is that everyone is dressed so much better than usual. Suits and dresses, and the girls have really worked on their hair.

It would usually mean a portrait photo-opportunity heaven for me, but not this year because I still have my camera in for repairs!

Yesterday was a busy day nevertheless, I went to the YleX concert in Kaisaniemi, just like I do every year. I go there for the music and the summer festival feel.

In hindsight I think I should have used my film cameras as backup, but for some reason I opted for my old Dimage7i instead. Oh man, I really regret this choice. The abysmal focusing speed is indeed the reason for ever growing tired of that camera. It has a long reach tele, but it sure makes auto-focus real slow and inaccurate. Manual focus is almost impossible to achieve. It didn’t even help one bit that I hadn’t used my old Minolta for a looong time (last time was in Syria I think), so all the knobs and buttons had become somewhat unfamiliar to me.

After some many failed attempts of having any good shots taken, I finally gave up for the evening and had some beer instead, and watched football (soccer) on the big screen in Rautatientori, Helsinki.

A week on the road

And also in the air.
I was traveling last week from Wednesday May 16th until yesterday, Tuesday May 22:nd. I was first in Sweden, home at my mum celebrating her 50th birthday.
And what a party it was! I was delighted to meet some “long lost” friends and relatives again whom I hadn’t seen for several years.

On Sunday I flew to Holland and stayed there until Tuesday. That trip was work related, but I did have some spare hours on my own to freely stroll around in Amsterdam. I visited Vondelpark and caught a free concert, so I decided to stay for a while and listen. One band was Leaf, and if I’m not mistaken, another one was called Jay and the Fun?. To my disappointment it was raining, so there were not too many people there that day, and I didn’t feel like exploring too much anyways.

I couldn’t stay for longer than about 18:30, after which I left for Alkmaar and from there to Bergen.

I took some photos of Amsterdam (not too divine or great though :D) , but on the last night of my trip I had an unfortunate mishap with the camera, and need to send it in for repairs before I can use it again… It really made sad not to have any photographic opportunities on the last day. Of course, the repair bill will make me even sadder… :D (I can afford to laugh now, because laughing is cheap)

All pain is over

Pictures are up NOW in the photo exhibition. More pictures will come up after 23rd of June. Between 15 and 22 of June I will be on vacation in a very special country, hopefully I will have good photo opportunities there. Stay tuned!

Tuska is heavy metal pain

Hello all! TUSKA Open Air Metal Festival for 2006 has just ended, I haven’t published the pictures yet, but maybe later this evening.

During this event, all the black dressed goth girls and long black haired men step out from their heavy-metal caves and come out in the sunshine.

Pain is real
